Meet the Leadership Team Behind Bridgeport’s Trusted Plastic Fabrication Company
The Plastic Factory in Bridgeport is a family-owned plastic distribution and fabrication company with roots dating back to 1945. What started as a small operation focused on same-day automobile window glass installation has grown into a modern plastic fabrication partner serving industries across Connecticut and the surrounding region.
Even as the tools, materials, and technology have changed, one thing has stayed consistent for nearly 80 years: fast, reliable service built on family values.
A Family Business Built on History
The company was founded by Joseph Carbone in 1945. At the time, the focus was simple, serve customers quickly and do the job right the first time. That same-day service mindset became the foundation of the business.
By the 1960s, the company transitioned from glass into plastic fabrication, adapting to new materials and expanding capabilities as customer needs evolved.
When Joseph retired, the business was passed to his son, James A. “Jim” Carbone, who expanded operations beyond Connecticut into Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Under his leadership, the company scaled while maintaining its hands-on approach and strong customer relationships.
Returning to Bridgeport
In 2011, Jim Carbone and his son Robert brought the company back home, reestablishing The Plastic Factory in its original Bridgeport location.
This move was intentional. It brought the business back to its roots and reinforced its focus on what matters most:
fast turnaround times, in-person service, and dependable fabrication support for local industries.
Today, the company continues to serve customers who need speed, precision, and direct access to real people who understand their projects.
Leadership Today
Robert Carbone, President
Robert Carbone leads the company with more than 40 years of experience in the plastics industry. As President, he carries forward the legacy built by his father and grandfather while keeping the company focused on quality, consistency, and customer service.
His leadership style is rooted in experience and accountability, with a strong focus on maintaining a family-first culture that values both employees and customers.
James Carbone, Vice President
James Carbone oversees day-to-day operations across the company. Known for his hands-on approach, he is involved in nearly every part of the business to ensure smooth operations and fast turnaround times.
His focus is simple: keep jobs moving, solve problems quickly, and make sure customers get what they need without delays.
Built for Today’s Demands
While many distributors rely on long lead times and automated systems, The Plastic Factory continues to operate differently. Customers get:
Direct access to experienced staff
Fast quoting and responsive communication
In-house fabrication and cutting capabilities
Same-day pickup and local delivery options
It is a model built around speed, precision, and accountability.
Carrying the Legacy Forward
From 1945 to today, The Plastic Factory has evolved through three generations of leadership while staying true to its original mission: deliver quality work with speed and integrity.
Now led by Robert and James Carbone, the company continues to grow while remaining grounded in its roots in Bridgeport.
The materials have changed. The technology has advanced. But the commitment to customers has stayed exactly the same.
